Welcome to the website of Ford Lane Community Centre ! Please explore the various pages on our site. We hope you will agree that the site is a useful source of information about this popular community facility (to see a location map - please click here). Founded in 1981, The Ford Lane Residents Association was established by local residents to ensure that the area in which we live is looked after in a way that is beneficial to all who have a stake in our community. We have been working together for over 20 years and in that time we have seen (and been involved in) a lot of changes in the area. The residents association first started in the Hatton Hill area but had to relocate during redecoration and renovation of the venue at which we held our first meetings. The association then began holding our meetings in Ford Lane Community Centre and because it was clearly a building that offered so much potential to benefit the local community we decided to stay and build from there. At that time the centre was only being used by one group of disabled people. In order to ensure that the building remained open for many years to come it was recognised that it would be necessary to further develop the centre and create a local focus for residents of the surrounding neighbourhood. It was also recognised that the local youngsters were in need of a facility which they could use during out of school hours, and that our local senior citizens required somewhere to be able to socialise. It was then that the vision of a multi-functional Ford Lane Community Centre was born ! Our original suspicions were soon realised ...the activities provided were enormously popular, and as a result the building was extended as the demand for space increased. The building has become a central attraction for a large section of the local community, providing a wide range of community activities and events (click here to find out more). Ford Lane Residents Association has just celebrated 21 years with a party at the centre, which was attended by the Lord Mayor of Sefton, Cllr. Bobby Brennan and other local dignitaries and council officers.
