Community Activities

The rooms within the community resource facilities are allocated to Community organisations and training providers on a flexible basis to meet the need of the local community. The facilities have regular opening hours in the daytime to ensure full access. They are also open in the evenings and weekends if needed for use by young people and the wider community.

Now twelve months since opening, Trustees and Volunteers have established activities and inter agency work through the Centres.

 Community Activities on offer are as follows:

  • Taichi

  • Slimmers World

  • Surestart

  • Parenting Classes

  • Women’s Group

  • Open mornings for Refugees

  • Welfare Rights

  • Football

  • Tennis

  • Green Apprentice Scheme

  • Outreach Youth work

 Local courses have included:

  • Computers

  • Keep Fit

  • Arts and Crafts

  • English

  • Maths

  • Creative writing

  • Driving Theory

  • Sewing

  • Soft Furnishing

  • First Aid

  • Health and Safety

  • Food Hygiene

  • Cake Decorating

  • Aromatherapy

Meetings are held at both Centres by various local organisations, most frequently

Regeneration meetings between Local Authority and the local community

The Crèche

The crèche has been developed after the refurbishment of the buildings and was supported in its development by Trusts, local funders and Surestart. The crèche can be utilised by training providers who can bring crèche workers on an outreach basis and for community groups to use for after school clubs.

Bootle and Sefton Play Council support the development of after school facilities and Surestart, a government initiative that supports children of the ages between 0-4 to thrive when they enter early education now based at Orrell Mount support the provision of childcare in the area.
