| Welcome to the
TERRA website! The Earle Road Residents
Association was formed as a consequence of our plans to reduce crime and
vandalism in our neighbourhood, by getting alley gates fitted.
Lots of people living in the area fully supported our
attempts to have alley gates fitted, and a group of us 'joined forces' to
set up 'TERRA'.
A lot of hard work went in to developing the group,
and from the beginning the company trying to persuade the council to put up
the gates (Alleygating UK) also helped us to get organised!
We worked with the Smithdown Area Partnership (which
was a local regeneration company) to set up the first Alleygating scheme on
Merseyside, and we finally got our gates in March 1998.

of the first gate being fitted.
Throughout the spring and summer of 1998, TERRA
organised the first community fun day that the area had seen for over twenty
years...and the success of our Alleygating scheme helped generate interest
among our neighbours and friends.
The Community Fun Day was a huge success, with
hundreds of people from all over the area popping in to enjoy the
attractions...disco, five-a-side, dancing competitions, lucky dip, etc -
everyone had a lovely time.
Since TERRA was established, we have been actively
involved in working with Liverpool City Council and other agencies to
improve the quality of life for everyone living and working in our area.
In addition to Liverpool City Council, we have been
working with Riverside Housing Association and other social landlords.
Hopefully, an affective, long term strategy for the
area will emerge over the coming months and years.
At this point, we would like to thank
NeighbourhoodServices.com for providing the opportunity for us to have our
own website. Very soon we will be publishing a series of notices and minutes
of our meetings on this site, to enable visitors to see what's going on -
and who knows...get involved!!
